Senior Portraits in the Pines – Travis Albright’s Davis Arboretum Session
A Familiar Face and a Forest-Inspired Vision
Travis Steven Albright’s senior session felt extra special for me—because I’ve known this guy since he was two years old! I’ve had the privilege of photographing his older sisters, Abby and Hailey, over the years, so getting the chance to work with Travis for his senior portraits was such a full-circle moment.
For his session, Travis wanted something that gave off forest vibes. He was drawn to the tall pine trees and woodsy feel of the UC Davis Arboretum, and it turned out to be the perfect setting. With winding paths, textured tree trunks, and patches of golden sunlight peeking through the trees, this location fit his laid-back, outdoorsy personality to a tee.
Capturing Personality Through Style and Laughter
Travis brought several outfits that showed off different sides of his personality—from casual classics to college pride and even his graduation cap and gown. We started with his everyday style: light denim jeans, a striped short-sleeve shirt, and his confident (and very cool) energy. One thing about Travis—he’s effortlessly funny. When I asked if there was anything I should know about him, he simply wrote, “How cool I am.” 😄
His mom Kristina joined us for the shoot, and between the country music playing and the constant laughter, it felt more like hanging out with friends than working. She helped bring out some great genuine smiles (and a few chuckles) as we moved through the different locations in the Arboretum.
Representing Bradshaw Christian and What’s Next
As a proud student-athlete at Bradshaw Christian High School, Travis wanted to incorporate his love of golf into his portraits. We saved those images for the end of the session when the lighting softened just enough to add a golden glow. He brought along his club and golf ball for a few fun, relaxed shots that really showcased his love for the sport.
He also brought along some patches and letterman memorabilia that gave a nod to his high school journey—and a whole lot of school pride. This fall, Travis will be heading off to the University of Nevada, Reno, and there’s no doubt in my mind that he’s going to do big things.
Golf, Graduation, and Golden Light
The final set of images really tied the whole session together. Travis swapped into his white golf polo and black pants and brought the energy! Whether he was holding his Bradshaw Christian patches, striking a pose with his golf club, or simply smiling off to the side while leaning against a tree, you could see his fun-loving spirit shine.
This session was a reminder of why I love what I do—capturing real moments, genuine joy, and big milestones for families I’ve known for years. Travis, you were an absolute blast to photograph. Congratulations on your graduation, and go crush it at UNR!
