Laila & Sophia Baseer Senior Photos | Elk Grove & Sacramento Senior Photographer
There’s something really special about senior sessions, but this one felt extra meaningful—it was my first time photographing twins for a senior session.
Laila Marie and Sophia Adeline Baseer are both graduating from Franklin High School this May, and it was so fun getting to photograph them together while also capturing what makes each of them unique. In the fall, they’ll both be heading to Sacramento State—Laila to study Psychology and Sophia to study Nursing—which made this session feel like such a big milestone moment for their family.
We spent the evening walking through the California State Capitol Park and the World Peace Rose Garden, and it honestly couldn’t have been a more perfect setting. Between the tree-lined paths, the rose-covered archways, and the Capitol building in the background, every spot gave us something a little different.
They each had two outfits—a casual jeans look and a softer sundress—and instead of moving quickly from spot to spot like most sessions, we took our time at each location. I photographed each girl individually, and then we captured some together as sisters. It made the session feel relaxed and gave us a great mix of individual personality and shared moments.
Laila & Sophia – Individual Portraits
This part of the session really let each of their personalities come through.
The casual outfits gave us a more relaxed, everyday feel as we moved through the park—using shaded walkways, textured brick, and greenery for a variety of looks. The Capitol grounds are perfect for this because you can go from soft natural backdrops to more structured architectural spots just by walking a few steps.
Once they changed into their dresses, everything shifted into a softer, more classic look. The World Peace Rose Garden was in full bloom, with pops of red and yellow roses everywhere, and the fountain area added such a timeless feel to their images. These are the kinds of spots that just never go out of style.
You can really see how each of them carries themselves a little differently, even in the same locations, which is what made this part of the session so fun.
Sisters
This is always my favorite part when I photograph siblings.
There’s just something about stepping back and capturing that connection—the little smiles, the way they walk together, and those in-between moments that you don’t have to pose too much.
The tree-lined path with the Capitol building in the distance gave us such a clean, classic backdrop, and then the rose garden added a softer, more colorful feel. We kept things simple and natural so it didn’t feel overly posed, just them spending time together.
These are the images that always end up meaning more years down the road.
A Session That Felt Like Them
This session was such a good reminder that senior photos don’t have to feel rushed or overly structured.
Taking the time to photograph each of them individually, while also capturing them together, made the whole experience feel more personal and meaningful. It gave us the best of both worlds—images that reflect who they are on their own and the bond they share as sisters.
Laila and Sophia, it was such a joy getting to photograph this season for you both. I’m so excited for everything ahead as you head off to Sacramento State this fall.
