Rocking the Lens: Tanner Saylar’s Senior Session at Cosumnes River Preserve

We had an absolutely fun senior photo session this week with Tanner Luke Saylar at the stunning Cosumnes River Preserve. Tanner, a fine young gentleman we've had the pleasure of knowing through our church community, was truly a pleasure to work with. When his mom reached out to me to capture Tanner's senior portraits, I was thrilled. Having previously worked with the Saylar family for back-to-school and senior photos for Tanner's older brother, Slater, it felt like a wonderful reunion.

It was heartwarming to see Tanner's family join us for the session, creating a relaxed and joyful atmosphere. As we went about his session, we pumped up the volume to Tanner’s favorite Christian heavy metal tunes. While it might not have been my usual playlist, it perfectly encapsulated Tanner's vibe and helped him feel at ease throughout the shoot. Hearing from Tanner's mom afterward, learning that he went from nervous anticipation to thoroughly enjoying himself, warmed my heart. It's moments like these that make what I do so fulfilling.

Tanner's wardrobe choices were a true reflection of his personality and style, perfectly complementing the natural beauty of the location. Starting off with a sharp ensemble featuring black slacks and a tie, Tanner added a sentimental touch with a tie clip belonging to his late grandfather. It was a touching tribute that added depth and meaning to his photos.

Transitioning to a more relaxed look with a red checkered shirt, Tanner ensured to include key elements of his life in his outfits. From proudly displaying his school t-shirt to showcasing his favorite concert sweatshirt, signed by the artist himself, every detail spoke to who Tanner is. And of course, we couldn't forget his beloved Van's hat, adding a touch of his signature style to the photos.

As Tanner prepares to embark on the next chapter of his journey at Cosumnes River College, with thoughts of potentially joining the Air Force, I couldn't be prouder to have been a part of capturing this pivotal moment in his life. Tanner, thank you for entrusting me with your senior portraits. It was an absolute pleasure working with you, and I wish you nothing but the best as you pursue your dreams and aspirations!
