Country Senior Portraits with Horse & Truck | Juliana’s Wilton Ranch Session
A Relaxed Country Evening in Wilton
Juliana’s senior session was one of those calm, overcast fall afternoons in Wilton, California—soft light, muted skies, and a peaceful country setting that fit her personality beautifully. She’s a Class of 2026 senior from Liberty Ranch High School, and from the very beginning, she knew she wanted her photos to include everything she loves most: her truck, her horse Calliope, and the open hay fields that gave her portraits that classic country feel.
We photographed her session at a friend’s family ranch in Wilton, which turned out to be the perfect mix of open fields, stacked hay bales, and quiet dirt roads. The rustic backdrop paired perfectly with her outfit choices—from jeans and a burgundy tube top to her dusty rose lace tank and, later, a cream sundress with boots. Juliana was completely at ease in front of the camera, and her natural smile made every photo shine.
Classic Country Style Among the Hay Bales
We started her session beside the stacked hay bales and dry field grasses, which gave the perfect rustic touch to the evening. Juliana wore a burgundy velvet tube top paired with classic blue jeans, a brown belt, and her favorite pair of cowboy boots—a timeless outfit that stood out beautifully against the golden tones of the hay.
This look captured her down-to-earth style perfectly. The overcast sky softened the light, wrapping everything in a warm, natural glow. I love how relaxed she was here—those first few shots set the tone for the entire session.
Country Hay Fields and the Open Dirt Road
After finishing with the hay bales, we moved to the open green fields that surrounded the ranch. The rows of fresh hay created beautiful lines that led right to Juliana—simple, natural, and full of life. The soft cloud cover made her burgundy top and long hair pop against the greens of the field.
From there, we wandered toward a country dirt road, where the golden path stretched out beneath the muted sky. I love these shots because they symbolize what senior portraits are all about—the journey ahead. As Juliana walked down the road, her confidence and happiness came through effortlessly.
A Girl, Her Truck, and Her Cowgirl Boots
Next up—Juliana’s blue Ford truck, which she made clear had to be part of her senior portraits. It’s her pride and joy, and it shows! She leaned against the doors, sat on the tailgate, and even perched on the hood, flashing that easy smile the entire time.
For this look, she changed into a dusty rose lace tank with soft ruffles, paired again with her jeans and boots. The color looked stunning next to her truck and the deep greens of the oak trees behind her. This part of the session was full of laughter and personality—exactly what she wanted to remember about senior year.
Riverside Serenity
Next up, we explored a peaceful riverside clearing just down the path. The soft light filtering through the trees created the prettiest glow on the water and along the pebbled bank.
Juliana’s relaxed smile and quiet confidence made this spot feel so calm and natural. Surrounded by trees and tall grass, the riverside portraits added a soft, serene touch to her session—one of those simple, perfect moments before the light began to fade.
Ending the Session with Calliope
We saved the best for last—Juliana’s portraits with her horse, Calliope. She slipped into a cream-colored sundress with delicate floral details and brown cowboy boots, the perfect soft look to end the evening.
Juliana led Calliope through the green pasture, giving snuggles and talking softly to her as I photographed from nearby. Their connection was beautiful—easy, calm, and full of love. Toward the very end, as the session wrapped up, a few light sprinkles began to fall, giving the air a gentle glow. It couldn’t have been a more perfect ending to such a meaningful session.
Looking Toward the Future
Juliana plans to study pre-veterinary medicine with hopes of working in livestock nutrition—a perfect fit for someone who’s grown up around animals and has such a natural connection to them. Her drive and warmth are inspiring, and I have no doubt she’ll go far in her field.
Photographing Juliana was such a joy. Her session perfectly reflected who she is right now—strong, kind, and deeply connected to the country life she loves. I’m so grateful I got to capture these moments for her.
