Senior Portrait Session in Old Elk Grove | Morgan Sherman Miller, Class of 2026
Morgan Sherman Miller is a Class of 2026 senior, and his senior portrait session was the perfect example of how simple, intentional choices can create a strong and meaningful gallery.
I’ve had the joy of photographing Morgan’s family over the years — from capturing his sister Audrey’s senior portraits to photographing their family again in fall 2024 — so getting to photograph Morgan for this milestone felt especially meaningful.
When I asked Morgan what kind of locations he envisioned, his answer was clear: urban settings with brick walls, staircases, and buildings. Old Elk Grove offered the perfect mix of character, texture, and variety while still keeping the focus on him.
A Simple Look That Felt True to Morgan
Morgan chose to wear just one outfit for his entire session — black pants, a purple shirt, a black vest, and dress shoes — keeping everything clean, classic, and timeless.
Not every senior wants multiple outfit changes, and that’s always perfectly okay. Morgan’s look photographed beautifully across different backdrops and allowed us to focus on natural posing and genuine expressions without distractions.
Urban Details and Architectural Texture
Brick walls, iron fencing, wooden gates, and staircases added depth and structure to Morgan’s gallery. These urban textures helped create variety while still keeping the session cohesive and true to the style he wanted.
Old Elk Grove offers so many subtle details that work beautifully for seniors who prefer a more modern, understated look.
Downtown Scenes and Graduation Milestones
The downtown area gave us a great mix of open walkways, sidewalks, and iconic landmarks — including the large clock — which added personality and a sense of place to Morgan’s session.
We also included cap and gown portraits, marking this important milestone and giving Morgan images that celebrate both who he is now and what he’s accomplished.
Finishing the Session with Strong, Grounded Details
We wrapped up Morgan’s session near the railroad crossing, using the industrial textures to finish the gallery with a confident, grounded look — while staying safely away from the tracks.
It was the perfect way to close out a session that reflected Morgan’s personality and style.
Morgan’s senior portrait session is a great reminder that a meaningful gallery doesn’t require lots of outfits or props. With thoughtful locations, relaxed pacing, and a look that feels authentic, even a simple session can tell a powerful story.
Morgan, congratulations on your upcoming graduation. It was such a pleasure photographing you and continuing to work with your family.
