Samanta Macias Maternity Session | Elk Grove Maternity Photographer
This maternity session at Jack Hill Park was one of those evenings where everything just came together. The weather was perfect, the light was soft, and we had this beautiful spot with the bridge in the background the entire time.
Samanta, Jose, and Itzel made the session easy from the start. We kept things relaxed and just moved naturally from one moment to the next, capturing a mix of individual, couple, and family images along the way. With baby Octavio arriving soon, you could feel the excitement the whole time.
A Natural Flow Throughout the Session
This session really flowed from start to finish. Instead of breaking things up too much, we kept everything moving—mixing in individual shots of Samanta, then bringing Jose in, then Itzel, and then all three together.
That approach always helps things feel more natural. No one is standing around waiting, and it keeps the energy relaxed the whole time. You can see that in the images—everything feels easy and connected, not forced.
The soft blue dress worked perfectly with the green grass and warm sunset light, and that bridge in the background gave us a consistent, clean backdrop throughout the session.
Meaningful Details That Tell the Story
One of my favorite parts of this session was the small details they brought along. The ultrasound photo, the “little brother” onesie, and the blue dinosaur were simple, but they added so much meaning to the photos.
These are the kinds of things that make a session feel personal. Years from now, those details are going to matter just as much as the portraits themselves.
There were some great moments with Jose holding the ultrasound and even leaning in close to the belly—those little interactions always end up being some of the most memorable images.
Big Sister Moments with Itzel
Including Itzel made this session even more special. At 16, she brought such a calm and natural presence, and you can really see how much she cares already.
Some of my favorite moments were the simple ones—her standing close to her mom, holding onto the baby items, and just smiling at her. It didn’t need to be anything over the top. Those quiet interactions say everything.
She’s going to be an amazing big sister to Octavio.
A Family Ready to Welcome Octavio
We wrapped up with a mix of family portraits, and this is where everything really comes together.
You can see the connection between all three of them and the excitement for what’s about to change. These are the moments that matter—right before baby arrives, when everything still feels calm but you know something big is coming.
That’s really what maternity sessions are all about. Taking a little time to pause, capture where you are right now, and celebrate the new life you’re about to welcome.
A Season Worth Remembering
Sessions like this are a great reminder that it doesn’t have to be complicated. A beautiful location, good light, and a family that’s excited for what’s ahead—that’s all you need.
Samanta, Jose, and Itzel are about to welcome baby Octavio, and it was such a pleasure to capture this time for them. These are the moments that go by quickly, but having them documented means they’ll always be able to look back and remember exactly what this season felt like.
