Javier Avalos | Senior Portraits in Elk Grove – Sheldon High Class of 2025

There’s something extra special about working with families over the years—and this session with Javier Avalos was no exception. I had the honor of photographing his older brother Fernando’s senior session back in 2022, and now it was Javier’s turn to step in front of the camera to celebrate his senior year at Sheldon High School, Class of 2025.

We met up at Camden Lake, one of my favorite nature spots here in Elk Grove. The soft greens, winding paths, and water views made a perfect backdrop for capturing this exciting milestone.

A Classic Look to Start

Javier showed up looking sharp in a black suit and tie—clean, confident, and timeless. We kicked off the session under the willow trees near the lake, where the soft light filtered through the branches. He looked right at home, standing tall and proud, with a smile that came easy. It was a mix of natural confidence and that quiet excitement you see when a big chapter is closing and a new one is just around the corner.

Cap, Gown, and Big Goals

After the suit photos, Javier changed into his cap and gown for the traditional graduation portraits. We walked the path that runs along the lake, letting the tree-lined view frame the moment. His gown billowed with every step, and the photos caught a sense of motion and anticipation.

Javier will be heading to Butte College in the fall to study Mechanical Engineering—his future is bright and full of possibility.

Baseball at the Heart of It

Javier also brought along something close to his heart—his baseball gear. As a pitcher and catcher for Sheldon’s Huskies, he’s spent countless hours on the field, and it was only fitting we included that part of his story in his session. He changed into his Huskies uniform, grabbed his bat and glove, and we finished up near the trees and bridge for a mix of posed and action-inspired shots.

I love when seniors bring elements that reflect who they are—sports, hobbies, or personal style—it helps tell the full story of their senior year.

A Special Session from Start to Finish

It was such a joy to document this moment in Javier’s life—honoring his achievements, capturing his personality, and celebrating the things he loves most. From the sharp suit to his graduation gear and baseball uniform, every look told a different part of his story. Getting to reconnect with a family I’ve photographed before made it even more special. Watching Javier step confidently into his next chapter was a reminder of why I love photographing seniors—these images freeze time just long enough to remember how far they’ve come.
