Graduating from pharmacy school is an incredible accomplishment, and it was such an honor to help Ogechi Chinenye Okorie celebrate this exciting milestone. We met at the California State Capitol and Capitol Park in downtown Sacramento, where the beautiful architecture, tree-lined walkways, and gardens provided the perfect backdrop for her graduation portraits.
Ogechi recently earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from California Northstate University, College of Pharmacy as part of the Class of 2026. During her time in school, she was a member of the prestigious Rho Chi Honor Society while working toward her goal of becoming a pharmacist. It was clear throughout the session how much dedication and hard work had gone into reaching this moment.
We began the session with her graduation regalia, including her academic tam, doctoral gown, honor cords, and a beautiful blue and white lei. Around the Capitol grounds, we captured a variety of classic graduation portraits, making use of the grand columns, elegant stone architecture, and the surrounding park. She brought such a calm confidence to every photograph, making it easy to create a collection that felt both professional and joyful.
For the second half of the session, Ogechi changed into a custom-made traditional Nigerian dress that was absolutely stunning. The vibrant blue fabric and elegant design looked incredible against the timeless architecture of the Capitol. To tie everything together, we also incorporated her graduation stole into several of these portraits, creating images that celebrated both her academic achievement and her Nigerian heritage. It was a beautiful way to honor not only everything she accomplished during pharmacy school, but also the people and culture that helped shape her journey.
Congratulations again, Ogechi! It was such a pleasure celebrating this milestone with you, and I wish you nothing but success as you begin your career as a pharmacist.
Earning a Doctor of Pharmacy degree represents years of commitment, perseverance, and countless hours of hard work. It was wonderful to capture this chapter of Ogechi's journey in a way that reflected both her academic accomplishments and the traditions that are so important to her. From her graduation regalia to her beautiful custom Nigerian dress, every part of this session told a piece of her story.
