5 ways to incorporate your college into your senior photos

One thing I really love about my senior portrait sessions is the ability of my clients to personalize your sessions.  You get to show off your unique personality and style with your outfit choices, your props you bring and special poses you might want to try.  One thing I encourage my seniors to bring to their sessions is their upcoming college gear and memorabilia. This is such an awesome time to not only celebrate where you are headed for the next chapter of your lives, but to also let everyone know your choice of college by including these portraits in your graduation announcement cards! They are such a great addition to your cards and can really make them unique to you!

Here are three ways you might incorporate your future college into your senior portraitā€™s session.

1. College T-Shirt/Hoodie:

college gear is so exciting once you get your acceptance, and wearing your gear is a great way to tell everyone where you will be spending the next four years of your life. Make sure to keep it simple with your collegiate colors with big, bold lettering. Incorporate with something simple like jeans or shorts.

2. Your College Acceptance Banner ā€“

Most colleges send out small banners when they send you your acceptance letter in the mail.  Not only are these perfect for the walls in your room, but these are perfect props to bring to your session.  We can do some poses with you holding the banner out from you where that is in focus, or we can have it on the ground next to you where you are sitting.

3. Your College Flag/Pennants ā€“

This is a fun one to bring!  Most colleges and universities have local gear shops where you can find embroidered or custom flags or pennants.  Bring one to your session and we can have you holding it and flying it with pride during your session.

4. Custom Cookies ā€“

I had a senior mom bake custom shaped cookies for her daughter to have at her senior session.  It was such a fun way to show off where she would be attending college.  She held out the cookie while wearing her college t-shirt. When even captured some images of her sampling the cookies!

5. Other Ideas ā€“

There is so much merchandise that will have your college logo on it that would be great to have at your session.  Here are just a few:

  • Coffee Mug

  • Cap/Hat

  • Stuffed Animal

  • Decal Sticker

  • Lanyard

  • Socks

  • Foam Finger

Be creative when it comes to showing off which college you will be attending.  Have fun with picking out props to bring and finding fun ways to incorporate your college into your senior portraits and your announcement.

I look forward to helping you create wonderful memories and you start this new chapter in your life!
