What is the Difference Between a Senior yearbook picture and Senior Portraits?

the difference between a senior yearbook photo and a custom senior portrait

Well, it's finally here you have a senior in the house. He or she is finally starting their senior year. This is an emotional time for both parents and their seniors. For a senior it can be a year full of emotions; anticipation, excitement, lots of activities, nervousness, and more. For parents there is nostalgia, apprehension, reflection, and pride. Senior year will fly by, and you will wish things would slow down and that you could enjoy all the special moments for a little longer.

With such an exciting year and all the memories being made you want to capture your senior as they are at this time in their journey. Senior portraits are a perfect way to celebrate their senior year. This is such a huge milestone that it must be preserved. Documenting this momentous year with professional photos is a perfect way to celebrate and mark such a huge event in the life of your senior and your entire family.

Most high schools offer yearbook photos for seniors. However, there is such a huge difference in not only the quality of the images, but the overall experience. Yearbook photos are formal, posed, rigid, and stiff, Girls are usually dressed in a velvet wrap and guys are in a tuxedo or suit. They are typically taken in either a studio or the gym with a plain backdrop. They have a traditional look that has been around for generations and are dated and ordinary.

With an actual senior portrait session, it is the perfect time to capture your seniors unique personality and individual spirit. Senior portrait sessions can be a memorable and enjoyable experience with lots of flexibility and personalization. Everything from location, outfits, props, and poses can reflect who your senior is and what makes them special.

My goal of the session is to help your senior have a blast and to realize their inner and outer beauty leaving them confident even after this session is over. I strive to make each senior portrait session unique, personable, fun, memorable, and enjoyable.

Senior photos are modern and beautiful while capturing your senior’s personality and individuality. Don't just rely on the posed and formal yearbook photos. Consider booking a customized senior portrait session with me where I will create portraits that you and your senior will be happy to share with family and friends.
